Trade Assessment Preparation Program (T.A.P.P.)
Paving the Pathway to Skilled Trades for High School Students
Your Pathway to a Trades Apprenticeship
The TAPP Program is an innovative initiative designed for career-driven high school students passionate about pursuing a trade after graduation. More than just a preparatory course, TAPP serves as a launchpad, equipping students with essential English Language Arts (ELA) and Math skills required for success in the trades. The curriculum is strategically aligned with the National Joint Apprenticeship Training Committee (NJATC) Aptitude Test, a crucial step toward securing a spot in a competitive building trade apprenticeship program.
In addition to academic preparation, students receive mentorship from experienced tradespeople who guide them throughout the program. They also gain hands-on experience through work site visits, giving them valuable insight into the daily life of a tradesperson. Through TAPP, students gain the knowledge, confidence, and practical exposure to take their first steps toward a successful career in the trades.
Program Details:
- Day and Time: Tuesday and Thursday 6:00-8:00pm (8 weeks)
- Location: Central High School
- Target Audience: High School Juniors and Seniors
Bridging the Gap
Through T.A.P.P. students gain not only the academic proficiency needed for the test but also a deeper understanding and appreciation of the trade sector. This program bridges the gap between academic knowledge and practical skills, ensuring students are well-prepared, confident, and ready to thrive in apprenticeship opportunities. By participating in TAPP, students are stepping into a world of opportunity, where their skills will build the future of our community.
